Newtown Lions Club Food Drive

Now through April 30, to help local food pantries.

Collection baskets are located in the lobby of the Newtown Community Center, 8 Simpson Street at Fairfield Hills through Sunday April 30th.

Donations will be accepted any time the Community Center is open.

Among the items requested are canned vegetables, canned fruit, canned tuna, sardines, beef stew, corned beef hash, Chef Boyardee products, rice, pasta, pasta sauce, canned tomatoes, hearty canned soups, canned black/kidney beans, peanut butter, jelly, hot and cold cereal, pancake mix and syrup. Also needed are cake mix, frosting, brownie mix, flour, corn meal, sugar, condiments. Assorted juices are always needed. Snack items such as granola bars, peanut butter/cheese crackers and fun size snack items would be very helpful for after school programs and camps.
Other than food items the pantries need toothpaste, toothbrushes, shampoo and conditioner, body wash, deodorants, hand soap, laundry and dishwashing detergent, toilet paper, Kleenex, and paper towels.
