FAQ’s

Who can join? Newtown residents age 55+ are automatically members! Also family members, friends, caregivers and anyone interested in advancing the interests of Newtown and its seniors through volunteerism, financial support or contribution as a resource specialist.

Is membership free?: Yes, FREE!

What do I get by subscribing to FONS’ email list? Emails about meetings, social events, initiatives, and opportunities to help and get help. Access to FONS network of engaged supporters and a voice in the conversation!

How can I participate in FONS? Attend social events; advocate for programs; volunteer within FONS and/or serve others; build FONS’ communication tools; volunteer to help a senior through the FONS Chore Service or other programs; attend advisory meetings; and more!

When are community advisory/ general meetings? Second Wednesday monthly, 4 pm, at the Senior Center. Open to all, attendance optional.

Are there social events? Monthly happy hour gatherings, holiday parties and more, as announced.

How is FONS different from the Senior Center? FONS supports and complements Senior Center membership programs with advocacy, communications, services and opportunities for all Newtown current and future seniors. Do both:

  • Subscribe to FONS to be part of our town-wide senior organization
  • Join the Newtown Senior Center for abundant member programming.
