Healthcare Agent Workshop
March 8, 2023 @ 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm
Who Speaks for You (When You Can’t Speak for Yourself)?
Whether you are 25 or 85 you should choose someone to stand in your shoes if you, the patient, cannot communicate your wishes to medical personnel. Younger people have car accidents, falls, concussions, and older people usually face a heightened risk of acute and chronic illness. But very few people actually appoint a healthcare agent to make medical decisions for them when they can’t.
Worse, younger people are often afraid to broach the subject with parents for fear of upsetting them by “having the conversation.”
This program will show you how to appoint a valid health care decision maker at no cost. The appointment will be valid in any state. We will also discuss the difference between a DNR, a “living will” and the role of a health care agent. Questions are welcome.
If you were hospitalized and unable to communicate your wishes to your doctors, who is authorized to make medical decisions for you? Join this in-person workshop to learn:
- How to appoint a valid health care decision maker at no cost
- Difference between a DNR, a “living will” and the role of a healthcare agent
Presented by Elizabeth Neuwirth (MS/JD), a retired health care lawyer who has dealt with many situations in which having (or not having) a person chosen by the patient to be their voice in medical decisions made a difference.
