DESCRIPTION:QPR Training will be held at the Newtown Community Center. QPR stands for Question\, Persuade and Refer\, a suicide prevention program designed to help individuals recognize and respond to someone in crisis. \nQPR is a community-based\, evidence informed suicide prevention training that teaches participants how to identify warning signs of suicide and take immediate action to help someone at risk. The training is modeled similarly to CPR\, providing a structured\, step-by-step approach to intervene in a crisis. \nYou will learn to: \n\nRecognize the warning signs and risk factors for suicide.\nIntervene and ask tough questions when someone is at risk for suicide.\nEffectively support other community members struggling with mental health issues and suicidal feelings.\n\nThis training is co-sponsored by The Rotary Club of Newtown and the Newtown Suicide Prevention Initiative. \nClick here to register or send an email to newtownspinitiative@gmail.com. DESCRIPTION:An abbreviated Fall Book Donation Day is set for Sunday\, October 19 —rain or shine—from noon to 2 pm at the Blue Building\, the Friends’ temporary donation site at 17 Old Farm Road in Newtown (next to the Dog Park). The Friends have shifted donation operations to this location because of HVAC work underway at the Booth Library. \nJust like previous Donation Days held at the Library\, donors can drive up to the front of the Blue Building where volunteers will help unload their vehicles and provide tax receipts.
